1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 – 8,766 Original Miles, Numbers-Matching, True Survivor
An exceptional example of Chevrolet’s golden-era muscle, this 1967 Chevelle SS 396 is a remarkable survivor showing just 8,766 original miles and retaining its factory original paint.
With its numbers-matching drivetrain and time-capsule condition, this car offers a rare opportunity to experience a Chevelle exactly as it left the showroom nearly six decades ago. All verified by Jerry MacNeish.
Under the hood sits the original 396 cubic-inch big block V8, factory-rated at 325 horsepower and paired with its numbers-matching Muncie wide-ratio 4-speed manual transmission. Fuel delivery comes via the original four-barrel carburetor, and the car retains its authentic manual drum brakes and coil spring suspension front and rear — an unaltered mechanical package that speaks to its preserved originality.
The exterior wears its factory color paint, with excellent glass and trim showing only minor imperfections consistent with age. The few paint chips in the door jambs are the result of the original door seals sticking over time, further evidence of its authenticity. Included are the original steel wheels and poverty hubcaps, as well as a set of original tires, with 215/70R14 fronts and 225/70R14 rears currently fitted.
Inside, the blue bucket-seat interior presents beautifully, retaining its center console with clock, SS steering wheel, AM/FM radio, and under-dash tachometer. Details such as the padded dash, sweeper speedometer, fuel gauge, manual crank windows, and lightly patinated trim reflect both careful ownership and untouched originality.
The numbers back up the story — every major drivetrain component, from block to carburetor, carries the correct casting and date codes:
